Arguably the best point guard in Trail Blazer history, Terry Porter heads up this weeklong camp full of great drills and fun games. He teams up with past Trail Blazers greats Chris Dudley, Michael Holton and Steve Johnson in this first-time camp for MAC.

Porter graduated from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 1985 and was a first round draft pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1985. Porter is currently the Trail Blazer all-time assists leader with 5,319 and is first in 3-points made (773) and attempted (2,006). He is also second in points (11,330), steals, minutes played, field goals made and free throws made.

In 1,274 career games, Porter averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 assists and 1.24 steals during a stellar career that included two All-Star berths (1991 and1993) with the Blazers, two trips to the NBA Finals (1990 and 1992) with the Blazers and 15,586 career points. At the end of his career Porter ranked 10th on the NBA’s all-time assists list. Porter went on to coach the Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns.

Chris Dudley graduated from Yale University and was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. For the next 16 years, Dudley played for the New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers. As a pro, Dudley accumulated more than 3,400 points, 5,400 rebounds and 1,000 blocks.

Michael Holton, a native of the Northwest, graduated from UCLA and was selected in the third round of the 1983 draft by the Golden State Warriors. Holton played six seasons in the NBA and was a member of the Trail Blazers for two of those years. Holton is currently a Comcast television analyst for the Trail Blazers.

Steve Johnson attended Oregon State University and was drafted in 1981 by the Kansas City Kings, now known as the Sacramento Kings. He enjoyed 10 seasons in the NBA that included playing for the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Seattle Supersonics, and the Portland Trail Blazers. Johnson accumulated more than 7,300 points, 3,400 rebounds and 530 blocks during his career.

Join Eric Reveno, University of Portland’s head basketball coach, for an exciting week full of basketball. Campers learn all of the basic fundamental of the game from one of the area’s top basketball coaches. Reveno came to University of Portland after nine successful years as an assistant at Stanford University. During his time at Stanford, Reveno helped lead the Cardinal to six 20-win seasons, two 30-win seasons, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, an NCAA Final Four in 1998, three years with a No. 1 national ranking, and four Pacific-10 Conference Championships. He has also helped coach seven players who went on to play in the NBA.

Reveno was named the West Coast Conference coach of the year in the 2008-2009 season after leading his team to a post-season tournament berth, a 19-game winning season and a third-place finish in the WCC (the best league finish in school history). This season, University of Portland was ranked in the AP top 25 for the first time in 50 years.

Nick Robertson, one of the Northwest’s finest high school coaches, coached 4A basketball for more than 40 years, won two Oregon state championships with McMinnville and Beaverton high schools, and won more than 800 games.

When it comes to learning and fine-tuning the fundamentals of the game, this camp is among the finest.

Les Harrison Basketball Camp (JS873)

For boys and girls ages 6 to 13
Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23, 2010
From 9-11 a.m. in MAC Gyms
Cost is $120 for non-members

Les “Pee Wee” Harrison played college basketball at George Fox University, then played professionally for 12 years with the Meadowlark Lemon Harlem Globetrotters Legends. Some of his former teammates include Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, Gator Rivers and Pistol Pete Maravich.

The weeklong basketball skills camp focuses on all the necessary skills to become a good basketball player. Campers should come prepared to laugh, learn, and improve their skills.

Games are now built into this camp.


Neil Lomax Football Camp (JS028)

For boys ages 6 to 13
Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2, 2010
From 9-11 a.m. at Lincoln High School
Cost for non-members is $120

Neil Lomax, one of Oregon’s all-time greatest football players, heads a popular youth football camp this summer.Lomax is a college hall of fame member who set many NCAA passing and total offense records playing for Portland State University. He was a first-round NFL draft choice by the Cardinals. He had a great NFL career and is considered by most to be one of football’s greatest quarterbacks ever.

This camp teaches all the fundamentals of football, teaching proper techniques of blocking and tackling, using bags to help prepare youngsters for the upcoming football season. The camp also works with all positions. Boys are divided into age groups and receive instruction on various aspects of the game. This camp is a non-contact camp.

Campers should wear turf shoes or general athletic shoes, bring a small water bottle with their name on it, a snack, and sunscreen.

Games are now built into this class.


Joe Bushman Quarterback/Wide Receiver Camp (JS872)

For boys ages 12 to 18
Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25, 2010
From 9-11 a.m. at Lincoln High School
Cost for non-members is $90

This new camp is for serious football players who want to improve their skills as a quarterback or wide receiver. Former MAC Scholar Athlete and current member Joe Bushman leads this camp. Bushman played football at Willamette University where he received academic all-American and team captain honors. He is currently the head coach at Clackamas High School and has been a successful head coach the past 10 years at Lakeridge, Central Catholic, and Clackamas high schools.

Players should come prepared with a water bottle, sunscreen and cleats.


Bernie Fagan Boys and Girls Soccer Camp (JS056)

For boys and girls ages 6 to 13
Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9, 2010
From 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m
Cost for non-members is $100

Bernie Fagan, a former professional soccer player in England and one of the Northwest’s most respected coaches, leads this camp for the 12th straight year. Fagan was the head women’s soccer coach at Portland State University, and now heads the men’s soccer program at Warner Pacific University.

Campers should bring a water bottle with their name written on it, sunscreen, and a snack.

Games are built into this camp.

As the summer approaches, soccer lovers should check the MAC website or call junior sports for the possible addition of a second soccer camp.


A Very Special MAC Soccer Camp (TBD)

Still being finalized, but young soccer players will be VERY excited about this camp and the talent that will be presenting it.

Holly Ziegler Girls Lacrosse Camp (JS866)

For girls ages 9 to 13
Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25, 2010
2-4 p.m. at Lincoln High School
Cost for non-members is $120

Holly Ziegler, head coach of St. Mary’s lacrosse, offers MAC a week of lacrosse instruction and team play. Ziegler has coached the St. Mary’s Blues for the past four seasons, and led them to consecutive state championship titles in 2007 and 2008. A former collegiate all-American and all-Ivy Leage, Ziegler attended Dartmouth College. For her contributions to lacrosse as a player, coach and umpire, Ziegler was inducted into the Oregon Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2007.

Sticks and goggles are provided; players with their own equipment are asked to bring it. Campers must bring a mouthguard, water bottle and sunscreen with their name on it.

Dennis Sullivan Boys Lacrosse Camp (JS495)

For boys ages 9 to 13
Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9, 2010
9-11 a.m. at Oregon Episcopal School
Cost for non-members is $100

This summer, experience lacrosse, one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. MAC boys and their guests get quality individual instruction in basic lacrosse skills and team play. This camp is designed for players with all levels of experience. Players learn the basic fundamentals of passing, shooting and dodging, as well as defensive techniques.

Dennis Sullivan, the head lacrosse coach at Oregon Episcopal School (OES), heads this weeklong camp. Sullivan attended Brown University where he was an All-American, all-Ivy League, team captain, and team MVP. After college, he played professionally for the New Jersey Pride. He later coached high school lacrosse in New Jersey and was named the 2002 state coach of the year. After assisting Kris Van Hatcher at OES, Sullivan is now the head coach.

Campers’ feedback to this camp, Coach Sullivan, and his staff was tremendous in 2009. Campers can look forward to the same great experience this summer.

Sticks, helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads and gloves are available at OES for those who are new to lacrosse and want to give it a try. Participants who have equipment are asked to bring it to camp.

All campers must bring a mouthpiece, cup, and a T-shirt to fit over their shoulder pads, as well as a water bottle and sunscreen with their name on it.

Parents are responsible for transportation to and from OES.
